Leadership

As a woman of color, a first-generation student, a woman in STEM, I have needed to fight hard to be where I am today. I realize that I am a minority, especially in my field, therefore I have made it one of my passions to have my voice heard and treated as an equal amongst my coworkers. I am in STEM today to pave the path for future women who choose to follow the same journey I have.

Webmaster & GHC Panel Speaker for Women In Computing

Presently, I am the Webmaster for Women In Computing at California State University, Long Beach and a mentor to Freshmen and Sophomores where I help guide them through their academic career at CSULB.

In the summer of 2019, I was asked to join Women In Computing (WIC) as just a member. However, as the semester was about to begin, I was asked to become their Webmaster since I had prior experience working with websites. I eagerly took the role and had many mentors help me along the way. As a direct result of joining WIC, I received a scholarship to attend the Grace Hopper Conference in which I networked with hundreds of women interested in the field of technology. When I returned from GHC, I was inspired to spread what I had learned with Freshmen and Sophomores beginning their journey in Computer Science. I then spoke at several GHC panels where I answered questions about my experience, was the lead developer for MarinaHacks for the Spring 2020 semester and then became co-lead the semester following due time conflicts. As my time as CSULB is coming to an end, I find myself pursuing Program Manager roles due to my diverse skillset. At the end of the day, I hope to bring my skills to a company that values creativity, adversity, and their employees.
